It’s not easy to know what you want in a wedding ceremony. Many people just don’t understand how many choices there are! Today, most couples marrying outside the church still choose to express themselves in a ceremony that is traditional in structure, with added touches and variations that make it uniquely their own. This is generally my starting point when creating yours. Below I highlight 3 types of wedding ceremonies – Perfect, Basic, and Casual. All are great! And each can be designed to fit your personal style and spiritual – or non-spiritual – beliefs.
Wedding Ceremony Types
A Perfect Ceremony ($425-650*) is for couples who want it all! Falling within a 30-minute time frame, this ceremony includes everything to express yourselves as a couple and your love for each other. We will entertain your guests with a fun love story written just for you. We can include rituals and/or readings that symbolize the coming together of two people in love. If you’d like, let’s include family and friends in the ceremony, too. Finally, I can find wonderful ways to include cultural and religious traditions for couples who want them.
For a simple, sweet and more affordable option, the Basic Ceremony ($245-$475*) has just what many couples want. We use a traditional wedding format that allows a couple to express their love and commitment from a variety of choices. Readings and options for vows are also included.
A Casual Ceremony ($150-$300*) is when you want a quick ceremony with a few witnesses in a casual setting, such as your home, a nearby park, or even the town or city hall where you get your marriage license. Developed as a response to the pandemic, a Casual Ceremony is what some might think of as an elopement.
How to Begin
It usually helpful to begin with an initial phone call or meeting to decide if we’re a fit. We can discuss options that will guide you to understand what you want for your ceremony, talk about my credentials and background, and I will answer any questions you have, and guide you on how, where, and when to obtain your marriage license. And of course, I do have many stories of ceremonies that I have done that can be helpful for you to begin making decisions for your own ceremony!
*The fee is based on type of ceremony, location, and date of your ceremony. It includes:
- all meetings and correspondence
- your personal wedding script
- my attendance at the rehearsal, subject to my availability
- my attendance at the ceremony with early arrival
- the filing of your marriage license
