It’s not easy to know what you want in a wedding ceremony. Many people just don’t understand how many choices there are! Today, most couples marrying outside the church still choose to express themselves in a ceremony that is traditional in structure, with added touches and variations that make it uniquely their own. This is generally my starting point when creating yours. Below I highlight 4 types of wedding ceremonies – Perfect, Special, and Basic. All are great! And each can be designed to fit your personal style and spiritual – or non-spiritual – beliefs.
Wedding Ceremony Types
A Perfect Ceremony ($575-$725) is for couples who want it all! Though still falling within a 30-minute time frame, this ceremony includes everything you want and need to express yourselves as a couple and your love for each other as individuals. We will entertain your guests with a fun love story written just for you. We can include rituals and/or readings that both symbolize the coming together of two people in love (and their families). If you’d like, let’s include family and friends in the ceremony, too. Finally, I can find wonderful ways to include cultural and religious traditions for couples who want them.
Most couples choose the Special Ceremony ($425-$650). These ceremonies are a bit shorter than the Perfect Ceremony, and include any, but not all, of the same choices. You pick and choose.
For a simple, sweet and more affordable option, the Basic Ceremony ($245-$395) has just what many couples want. We use a traditional wedding format that allows a couple to express their love and commitment from a variety of choices. Readings and options for vows are also included.
A Simple and Casual Ceremony ($175-$225) is when you want a quick ceremony with a few witnesses in a casual setting, such as your home, a nearby park, or even the town or city hall where you get your marriage license.
The fee is based on type of ceremony, location, and date of your ceremony. It includes:
- all meetings and correspondence
- your personal wedding script
- my attendance at the rehearsal, subject to my availability
- my attendance at the ceremony with early arrival
- the filing of your marriage license
How to Begin
It is very helpful to begin with an initial meeting – on the phone or in person. We can discuss options that will guide you to understand what you want, discuss my background, answer any questions you have, and guide you on how, where, and when to obtain your marriage license. And of course, I do have many stories of ceremonies that I have done that can be helpful for you to begin making decisions for your own ceremony!
